I think you can expect a couple of Cosplay people there.

Is there any animation and/or comics event in the world that has not been corrupted by cosplayers?

i wouldn't use the word 'corrupt'.
i think cosplayers are ok as long as they look decent and realistic.
i don't like those who look crappy.

RE: Singapore Toy & Comic Convention
The reason I used the word "corrupt" is that there are many events that are based on other themes and subjects yet event organizers always tend to put in a cosplay event or competition, even though they may not have anything in common. And once they start, they keep doing it in successive events as if its a "tradition"

Like in one local comics convention I attended, most of the comics and artists there are from the local(Melayu comics) and western style with only a hint of anime/manga art. Yet 90% of the attendance are dressed in all sorts of cosplay costumes.

Its fun for them, yes, but don't we already have anime and japanese conventions? Why must I keep seeing the same "lack-of-attention" school boy wearing the same anime-girl drag costume at every unrelated convention? I don't mind it once or twice a year, but it gets to my nerves if I have to see stuff like that at almost every unrelated event Angry

TQFT...
It seems like the one and only way to liven up a convention like that is by having a cosplay competition.
Somehow, down here in Malacca, things are more toned down. Not many people wears a cosplay for nothing. I mean like, they only wear it for the competition's sake, not for fun. And there are only a handful of them doing so anyway, not like a bunch of them are wearing random but same costumes.
And thank god we only have such an event only once a year.
Apart from that, I'm guessing they're gonna have an arcade competition, trading card competition, collectible figure sales and etc.. Basically, just like any convention, only held at a different area.

Yes, I'm a snark. Sue me.

RE: Singapore Toy & Comic Convention
The Singapore Toy and Comic Convention features a variety of both familiar brands (Bandai, Hasbro, Takara-Tomy, Nintendo) and unfamiliar brands (Blythe dolls for example).

Self-explanatory links on STCC:

http://ill-lushtrator.deviantart.com/art...2-91324351
http://ill-lushtrator.deviantart.com/art...x-90436439

http://ill-lushtrator.deviantart.com/art...T-93037189
http://ill-lushtrator.deviantart.com/art...T-93348470

These links.... are only a mere scratch-on-the-surface as to what STCC is.

If you are one of those folks who know or read up on deviantART, there is Imaginary Friends Studios as one booth.
And sadly (no offense meant), but it featured only:
a) Tablet demonstration by the elite and the elitists (ouch, that is a lowblow)
Cool Endless artworks related to the Pepper Girl series (that, is 'original' <- sarcasm intended)
c) Show-off works on things seen in DA (like that Zone-of-the-Enders-ish Starship Troopers mecha design, meh) and not seen in DA before (like that extvia-inspired work link... uh, rip-off IMO)
d) Squiggly-molded mecha from the Freedom Formula series (go dig into my DA gallery if you need more info)

And then there is the usual Zemotion (she's a Senior in DA, OMGWTFBBQNOT) female fashion photography booth - too bad I took no shots there because it was more popular and crowded than in IFS booth. Ha ha....

Not to mention that there is COUNTLESS and RANDOM spots on Transformers merchandise.
Things from the new TransFormers Animated series of figures to the G1 classics, then there is also the Transformers Visual Works artbook which is uber expensive like SGD100-200 something.

Next up we have the Bandai Soul of Chougokin and Super Imaginative Chougokin series. If Mazinger Z and Kamen Rider are familiar to you, then there is no surprise to see them in full glory.

I forgot that there is also a whole slew of Gundam models - both SD and classic series. Sorry, I cannot find the Double O and SEED series there.

And as usual, for a good does of humor, you can find "non-existent" booths, like this one:

I have some more photos to explain stuff here and there, but ATM this is what I can show you. Please reply to this thread to bug me for more photos.

See ya~!

RE: Singapore Toy & Comic Convention
No offence, but I'm assuming from the images that at least 80% of the convention is Japanese culture related or Japanese anime-art influenced? If so I am pretty glad to have skipped another Japanese-culture-worship-shrine.

Am I the only one here who believes the art world (on this side of the planet at least) is starting to get far too anime/manga-saturated?
