>> Alright, thread split. I'll be transferring the commentary and supplementary material (complete with link-backs) into another thread soon. In any case, continue posting on this one.

>> At first, I wanted to do a little reference to Marvel's Starjammers with the title, but it ended up too obvious. Now it sounds like a rock opera. LOL! Do tell me if you have any issue with it.

[I was sick for a while but here's my part.
-Solar Groove, eh? Something about the title makes me think about the ultimate destination of the Sandokhan and his motley crew. Title's okay with me. We can always change it when we reach the ending.
-so we still do commentary here or write them at the other thread?
-oh and yikes on the ending of the flashback part. Chocolate. LOL!]

[Personally, I prefer that the actual story and the discussion (except several liners) be separated]

You know there's something not right with Roland when you see him enjoying chocolate.

Excellent curveball there, Cindermane. I had no idea how to build a vague prophecy and was worried about completely strangling the plot. Thanks. Smile

>> Like I said, a bit later I'll be cutting out the chatter, pasting it into another thread and adding footnote-style URLs.

RE: Solar Groove: The Adventures of Sandokhan and His Motley Crew
[-just checked out nanowrimo. That's pretty cool! I've never heard of that before but it's a cool thing to try Smile
-I'm still posting comments here until Night says otherwise. It'll be easier on him so he doesn't have to footnote stuff later on when we start commenting on the segments on the other thread.
-Thanks Smile on the 'prophecy', I didn't exactly say which is which. I have own ideas on who gets what title and which future but it could also apply to the others in the group so it's still up in the air for you guys. And ARGH I kept writing prophesy with an s! Still sick btw but hopefully getting better.
-Pyurio, nice background on Nercotics. I dunno about the possible 'shapeshifting' but I will eventually use the tissue regrowing as a reason if Vorca ever consumes someone. There's no background done on Vorca yet though you and Night have started on Sando and Brigit.
-woohoo, what's next? The plane crash suggestion?]

[Sampo: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sampo ]

[I choose Sampo, because no one is actually sure what Sampo actually is.]

[Personally, I think shape shifting would be too far-fetched. As for his background I sense something tragic involving a lady cetan and banishment. Hmmmm yessss.]

I thought naming a lynx after Sandokan would make a nice joke. ^_^

>> There's another RP-story thread that I've been meaning to revive right here if you want to check out or try. It's more Rorouni Kenshin / Samurai X flavoured.

http://www.anthroasia.com/forums/showthr...7#pid10847

- oh boy, here we go, here we go Smile

- Sandokhan - Sandokan is that tiger pirate show from um, Malaysia, right? I've never heard or seen it before until I followed a youtube link from one of the threads here. I don't know anything about him so forgive me if I miss some references (like is Brigit or Roland a Sandokan character?). I’m sort of treating Sandokhan like Jack Sparrow at the moment.

-er, how long are lynx’s tails anyway? If they’re too short, I’ll rewrite that to have Sandokhan spit the betel leaf he was chewing at the German shepherd instead.

http://www.anthroasia.com/forums/showthr...2#pid10862

>> Nah, you're writing Sando just fine. Brigit and Roland have their own references.

Lynxes have stubby tails, and I like the idea of him spitting chewed betel leaves. XD

>> Sorry I took so long. Had to decide how much to introduce in a single entry. Also, I had to go and look up some Celtic curses for Brigit, LOL. She's probably an awesome drinker. I'll probably explain what Sando means by "the Prometheus" later.

http://www.anthroasia.com/forums/showthr...6#pid10876

[I took a while with my entry too. Nice wit with the dialogue btw Smile Oh and I’m not so good with the Samurai X universe so I can’t help with the other story you linked in the previous page.

Five crew members. Sandokhan, Brigit, Zippy and the unknown female passenger makes four and Vorca makes five.

Do you have an idea on what Roland gave Sandokhan? I figure that whatever it is, it will shape their journey.]

[Geez, again that was quick! Pyurio, how much free time do you have? Tongue
-Hey, it's Roland again!
-Poor bear guards...
-I actually remembered thinking about writing about the 'magical communicators' that was mentioned before in a [footnote] thing but I forgot about it when I was writing the segment. That would have fit with the whole 'not writing down the prophecy' thing.
-heheh, on Vorca's background, it depends on who gets to it first. Unless it's a collaboration. I'm okay either way since he's a free rein character.]

>> No need to argue much, guys, I like having to work around surprises like that. Smile

Aside, I like the notion of Roland having this unstable love-hate thing going with Sandokhan that even we aren't sure about. LOL!

>> So we have a captain, a motherly Celt, a mousy engineer, a scary cannibal orca and a groggy teleporting half-witch getting chased by another half-witch dressed in leather after being aided by an imperial fox.

>> Apologies to Cindermane but things seem relaxed in the "slipstream", thought I'd take the opportunity for character development before another adventure in Olympias.

I wrote this while listening to Sheryl Crow's "We do What We Can" since there's an appropriate jazzy melancholy to it.

Considering the current style, I think we could agree on some break points as ends of "chapters". E.g. While jumping between planets, cliffhangers.

http://www.anthroasia.com/forums/showthr...5#pid10945

[I don’t THINK it was expressly said what kind of reptile Nahas is so here we go 

I sorta explained Sandokhan’s sometime flamboyance. Hehe, sorry about all the purple prose and overblown dialogue that extended the segment. And sudden inclusion of ‘green’ ness into the story.

Night, from your segment, I can’t tell if the man who sat down beside Brigit is Lord Tuathal or not. If it’s not, then if Vorca hadn’t left and ended the story, the man could either have been Captain Sandokahn to the rescue or the man who was responsible for killing (?) Brigit’s sister looking for his next victim. Creepy.]

[Excellent write up.]
[One thing bugs me though. To jump back into the trispace a wormhole needs to be conjured again and NahaÅ› just have been exhausted from the previous jumping.]

- [Agrav Array - Antigravity panels used in ships and personal carrier. NahaÅ› didn't fly by using wind, but rather, by repelling the force of gravity]

- [Basically I treated dragons in the story as much as we treated them, mythical beings]

- [The communicator used by Verthandi, Skuld, and Urth are magical communicator that can transmit stuff instantly no matter how far. Only magician can use it. Roland’s transmitters works with the same principle (although automated) it have small mana crystal embedded in it.]

- [And now you know what’s Verthandi’s problem]

>> I really want to see this painting the Oracle did. 8D

All Oracles have their own particular way of anchoring into a point in the present, taking a capture of information from which they compute future information based on complicated deterministic laws that come as a natural talent to them. The other reason they don't get along with magic users is that the "range" of their heuristic-like Sight is easily compromised by magical fields, so their Temples are designed to weaken magic. I'm leaving it to future authors to how precise they are, whether they're point-for-point or vague (but entirely accurate).

The colour-changing lights on the floor thing was inspired by a trip to a newly-opened mall near my place. It was fun to walk around on.
